8.2 Trainee attends WindEurope Conference in Bilbao
Since its founding, 8.2 Group has supported the entry and advancement of “newcomers” in the renewable industry. One way it does this is by taking on interns and trainees, allowing them to gain experience in the field and providing them with learning opportunities.
Nina Liloia, a Parlamentarisches Patenschafts-Programm fellow from the United States, is a new marketing assistant with the 8.2 Group e.V. in Hamburg. Her background is in environmental policy and advocacy, but she chose to work with 8.2 Group because she wanted to better understand how to support the development of the renewable industry and the challenges that manufactures, technicians, and communities face.
This past month, she had the opportunity to attend the WindEurope 2024 conference in Bilbao. This provided both educational and networking opportunities. Attending the WindEurope conference allowed Liloia to learn about the wind energy and renewable energy industry from many perspectives, including that of industry, research and development, and policy. She found the conferences sessions on offshore biodiversity, managing waste from wind, and engaging communities to be most informative.
Staff members from many companies in the wind energy industry were available to network. Liloia also had the chance to speak with Oliver Wykes, WindEurope’s Chief Operating Officer
Liloia’s favorite aspect of working with 8.2 has been the opportunity to work on a project from the ground-up. “8.2 included me in every aspect of design of their “members brand,” allowing me to gain skills in social media management, website design, and digital communications. I really feel like a valued member of the team. Working with such a diverse range of businesses and people is a great learning opportunity.”
